Bay Harbor Michigan is on the beautiful and ever-changing Little Traverse Bay on Lake Michigan.
Petoskey and Bay Harbor residents, as well as visitors, love how the Bay has such brilliant aqua colors on some days and yet it has foreboding deep blue-grays on other days. The view is constantly changing and offering beauty to the beholder. Although it is a sheltered bay it definitely has a northern Lake Michigan personality and provides terrific marinas for Great Lake boating enthusiasts. Bay Harbor, Michigan is just a few minutes from quaint Petoskey, Michigan and only 12 miles from Charlevoix to the west.
Bay Harbor is a year round resort community. It is only 15 minutes away
from Boyne City which is the home of Boyne Mountain Ski Resort. Boyne Mountain Ski Resort is
one of the best ski resorts in the Midwest, so there is plenty to do in the wintertime as well as summer.
The village itself has wonderful retail boutiques and restaurants with the Bay Harbor Village Hotel nestled right in the midst of the village and marina activities. The luxurious Inn at Bay Harbor is walking distance to the busy and fun Village.
With one mile of Lake Michigan shoreline and over 70 acres of beautiful land for residents and tourists to enjoy, it is one of the nicest resort communities in the nation.
It has three nine-hole golf courses on the Little Traverse Bay shoreline. Golf Digest has rated its golf course eighth in the nation. In addition to golf, boating, swimming and water sports, there is a gorgeous equestrian center across the road from the Bay Harbor Yacht Club.
The marina has 120 public boat docks and another 128 private with some leading right to Bay Harbor's finest homes.
Bay Harbor is not a northern Michigan vacation destination if you are on a tight budget...but it is fun to visit and see how the "other half live." It is reported that Madonna has a home in Bay Harbor but Marcia and Kathy have not found it quite yet!
Just remember that camping can be just as much fun!
