One Beautiful Mackinac Island Day and a Great Idea...

About Us: One beautiful day in the summer of 2009 we were celebrating the 4th of July together on Mackinac Island and playing the “remember when…” game. Both of us married into families with connections to the Island dating back more than sixty years and have lots of stories and experiences to share. It was quickly apparent that between the two of us we have accumulated considerable practical knowledge of the Island and its numerous attractions.

We talked about the many, many occasions when we had been asked by a visiting friend or family member how to make the best use of their time on the Island.

Often new arrivals to the Island are overwhelmed getting off the ferry with the throngs of people, bikes and horses. They find themselves at a loss as to where to begin and how to enjoy this quaint and unique place.

It occurred to us that by combining our special insight with useful information on attractions, dining and lodging we could provide a valuable resource to people planning a trip to Mackinac Island and the surrounding Straits area. With that objective in mind Mackinac Island Insider Tips.com was born.

We have had a lot of fun putting together this site and look forward to continually expanding and improving the content.
