Chippewa Hotel

Chippewa Hotel Mackinac Island

The Chippewa Hotel on Mackinac Island is a waterfront hotel with a downtown location where all the action of the harbor can be observed first hand. It is also a “stone’s throw” from the Arnold Line Ferry and a short walk to shops, restaurants, bars and even Historic Fort Mackinac!

Rooms and suites are available with either a street view or a harbor view and all rooms are air conditioned! While offering modern amenities, this Victorian-style hotel is over 108 years old. The staff is friendly, gracious, attentive, and has been known to “go the extra mile” to serve you.

Relax in a 25-person Hot Tub complete with a waterfall on the outdoor deck overlooking the harbor. The views are not only breathtaking, but also ever changing and exciting! Watch freighters pass through the Straits of Mackinac, ferries arriving and departing, private yachts gracing the marina, and even an occasional Coast Guard vessel docking.

Stop in the Pink Pony Bar, Dining Room or the Patio Bar if you are hungry or just want to sit a while and enjoy a drink. Their float entry in the annual Lilac Parade reflects the fun-filled atmosphere of the Pink Pony establishment.

Lilac Parade

Make sure you allow time to enjoy the live entertainment; the Patio Bar is always “hoppin’!” Marcia worked at the “Chip” during summer break from college in the 70's and led sing-a-longs at The Pink Pony during the afternoons. She not only fell in love with this magical island, but also met her future husband there!

The Chippewa Hotel is the place to stay if you want to enjoy Mackinac Island’s many points of interest from a central location. It has live entertainment, a unique harbor view, and great service.

Insider Tip: The Pink Pony and the Chippewa are very popular during the Chicago to Mackinac Sailing Race and the Bayview to Mackinac Sailing Race. If you want to be around sailors then this is the place to be during these two major summer events on the Island.
