Mackinac Island's Festival of the Horse begins on Wednesday, August 8 and runs through Sunday, Sunday, August 12, 2012. If you love horses you will want to admire them on the Island where the Horse Is King!
The events are fun as well as educational for all horse enthusiasts. The schedule offers a variety of happenings from presentations, lectures, hands-on activities and beautiful performances that are sure to delight people of all ages - young and old.

The Tempel Farms Lippizans
The Tempel Farms Lippizans will perform daily during the Festival of the Horse
Lippizans are a beautiful breed with a great history. They are known to have wonderful temperament with good abilities for dressage and driving.
This years Festival offers the opportunity to see these magnificent animals in person. What a wonderful opportunity!

Wednesday,
August 8
Begin the Festival by attending the Blessing of the Horses at
Mission Point Resort
at 6:00pm.
This is followed by the The Saddle Horse Parade down Main Street from Mission Point Resort.
Don't miss this beautiful tribute to the exquisite Mackinac Island horses and their riders!
Thursday, August 9
Kid's Day at Borough Lot
Performance by The Tempel Lippizans and talented Island equestrians.
Horses, Hoofbeats & Hors d’ourves Party with great food, entertainment and a live auction. This is a fun-filled evening event.
Friday, August 10
Horse Culture Lectures at the Grand Hotel
Historic Stables Guided Tours featuring The Grand Hotel Stables and West Bluff private stables.
Performances by The Tempel Lippizans and talented Island equestrians.
Clinics and Demonstrations at the Borough Lot below the Grand Hotel
Evening Carriage Parade will showcase many different types of carriages. It promises to be an exciting event!
Saturday, August 11
Horse Culture Lectures at the Grand Hotel
Historic Stables Guided Tours featuring The Grand Hotel Stables and West Bluff private stables.
Performances by The Tempel Lippizans and talented Island equestrians.
Riding, Driving, and Jumping Demonstrations
Breeds of Mackinac Presentation
Last Event on Sunday August
9 a.m. Carriage Driving Competition in the morning.
Rest assured that there will pony rides for the kids every day!
