Fort Mackinac Tea Room
by Laurie
A couple of years ago, we were staying at the Grand. In lieu of dinner in the main dining room they offered dinner at the Tea Room at the fort. We have had lunch there many times, but we have never been there in the evening. The fort was closed, so it was really peaceful. The view was spectacular, there was a tall ship sailing out from the Arnold freight dock, the kites were flying off of Windermere point and the sun was setting and shining off of the Lake Huron waters. In the time it took us to eat our dinner, the water changed 50 shades of blue. The food was absolutely delicious. It was a night I will never forget. Since then, every year, I keep hoping the Grand will open up the Tea room for dinner again. Now I heard they are not managing the food service at the fort this year. I guess that was a once in a lifetime dinner.
