The Mackinac Bridge Run on Memorial Day weekend is a race you won't want to miss! This year's race is on May 28, 2011 at 6 a.m. To cross the bridge by foot is an amazing way to start off your Mackinac Island vacation!
What a fun way to begin your 2011 Memorial Day celebration. Be prepared to be at the starting line by 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2011. The race begins in St. Ignace at the Bridgeview Park which is at the north end of the bridge in the Upper Peninsula and ends at the race headquarters in Mackinaw City.
At 6:00 a.m. the race begins! Watch the sunrise while you are crossing the Big Mac and observe quaint and beautiful Mackinac Island to your left.
The Course for the Mackinac Bridge Run
All runners must be able to run a 12 minute mile to participate in this race.
Be ready for the first half of the race being on an incline with a slope of about 5 degrees. The total length of the race is 5.6 miles. It begins at Bridgeview Park in the Upper Peninsula. Transportation from Mackinaw City to the starting line is by buses at Mackinaw City.
Check in is at the Mackinaw City Recreation Center at 507 W. Central Avenue from Friday evening from 6 pm to 9 pm and Saturday morning at 4:30 am to 6:30 am.
Regristration and Entry Fee
Registration closes on May 25th, 2011 at 9 pm. The fee for the race is $40.00. After May 1 the fee goes up to $45.00. On-site registration fee is $50.00
You receive an official race bib, race chip technology, official race t-shirt, commemorative medal, transportation to the race start and a free breakfast. Additional breakfast tickets are $8.00 each. No refunds are given. By the way, the breakfast afterwards is delicious!
