The Mackinac Bridge Run on Memorial Day weekend is a race you won't want to miss! This year's race is on May 24, 2014. To cross the bridge by foot is an amazing way to start off your Mackinac Island vacation!

What a fun way to begin your Memorial Day celebration. Be prepared to be at the starting line by 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014. The race begins in St. Ignace at the Bridgeview Park which is at the north end of the bridge in the Upper Peninsula and ends at the race headquarters in Mackinaw City.

At 6:00 a.m. the race begins! Watch the sunrise while you are crossing the Big Mac and observe quaint and beautiful Mackinac Island to your left.

The Course for the Mackinac Bridge Run

All runners must be able to run a 12 minute mile to participate in this race.

Be ready for the first half of the race being on an incline with a slope of about 5 degrees. The total length of the race is 5.6 miles. It begins at Bridgeview Park in the Upper Peninsula. Transportation from Mackinaw City to the starting line is by buses at Mackinaw City.

Check-in is at the Mackinaw City Recreation Center, 507 W. Central Avenue on Friday May 23, 2014 from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm and on  Saturday May 24, 2014 at 5:00 am.

Registration and Entry Fee

The entry fee for the race is $45.00. After May 1 the fee goes up to $50.00. On-site registration fee is $60.00

You receive an official race bib, race chip technology, official race t-shirt, Commemorative Medal, transportation to the race starting area and a free breakfast. Additional breakfast tickets are $9.00 each. No refunds are given. By the way, the breakfast afterwards is delicious!

Awards will be awarded to the 3 finishers in each race category including gender. Stay for the award ceremony which will occur after breakfast!

Insider Tip:

The bridge can be quite chilly due to wind, so dress accordingly. Call the Mackinaw Area Visitors Bureau for more information at 231-436-5664. Kathy hopes to see you at the race!
