Mackinac County Mi

Mackinac County Mi has over 691,000 acres with 135,000 being Federal Forest. It is truly Pure Michigan of the Upper Peninsula. It boasts being the county that not only has Mackinac Island under its watch but also the beautiful Les Cheneaux Islands.

Even though its land mass is large its population is not. Mackinac Island has a mere 523 year round residents. In the summer months this small Island population jumps to an additional 3300 summer residents. There are from 800,000 to One Million tourists visiting it each season.

Hessel, Michigan in the eastern part of the Upper Peninsula is in the beautiful Les Cheneaux Islands with a population of around 2,444 year-round people.

Being on the shores of Lake Huron and Michigan plus having countless rivers, lakes and beautiful forests it is absolutely magnificent if you love seclusion, peacefulness and uniqueness.


Tahquamenon Area population is around 1,238 residents. If you have not traveled to Tahquamenon Falls you are missing an unbelievable natural wonder whether you see it in the spring, summer, fall or winter.

St. Ignace is the county seat. All three ferry lines are in this small community of 4,249 residents.
