Mackinac Island Races 2010

Register for Four Terrific Races

Mackinac Island Races 2010 include three terrific running events. One event is a 10k run or walk, one is an eight mile run or walk and the other has both a half marathon or a 5.7 mile run and walk associated with it.

All three are for the avid athlete or for the person wanting to try one for the first time. Each has a different route so a participant can enjoy different spectacular scenery of this small Island where time has stood still. If you aren’t a runner register as a walker and invite a friend to join you.

On the average there are between 1500 to 2000 runners or walkers participating in each road race. Each run is growing in popularity due to the wonderful Mackinac Island location and weather so be sure to plan in advance.

Most hotels and bed and breakfasts on the Island have specials for these events if you reserve a room early. Staying either in Mackinaw City or St. Ignace is a more economical way to participate since each town has many national hotels with on-going specials and Mom and Pop motels which are budget minded due to their size and amenities.

If you opt to stay off the Island you can take one of the three Mackinac Island ferries early in the morning. Just plan ahead so you don’t miss the start!

Mackinac Island Races 2010 events are listed below:

Many people enjoy making these events a fun Mackinac Island family vacation too. All three races have Kids Runs associated with them with children receiving awards for participating.

The 4th Race is the Mackinac Bridge Run
on Memorial Day Weekend

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to run across the Mackinac Bridge? Click here for more information on this year's Mackinac Bridge Memorial Day Run.

INSIDER TIP: If you plan to come over by a ferry on the morning for a race it is recommended you take an 8 a.m. boat for the events beginning at 9:30 and a 10 a.m. boat for the 11:30 event. All three events start quite a ways from the boat docks so plan on at least a one mile walk which is a great way to warm up.
