Most
Mackinac Island Hotels
and the many quaint
Bed & Breakfasts
have specials for these running events if you reserve a room early. Staying in
Mackinaw City
or St. Ignace is a more economical way to participate since each town has national chain hotels with on-going specials; and, there are Mom and Pop motels which are budget minded due to their size and amenities. If you opt to stay off the Island you can take one of the three Mackinac Island ferries early in the morning. Just plan ahead so you don’t miss the start!
INSIDER TIP: If you plan to come over by a ferry on the morning for a race it is recommended you take an 8 a.m. boat for the events beginning at 9:30 and a 10 a.m. boat for the 11:30 event. All three events start quite a ways from the boat docks so plan on at least a one mile walk which is a great way to warm up.
