Mackinac Island Weddings

Create Forever Memories

Mackinac Island weddings range from small intimate marriage ceremonies to large grand scale receptions numbering over 100 guests.

To marry on this intimate island in northern Michigan with your family and friends in attendance will be a memorable destination wedding day.

Many couples who have married on the Island also became engaged on the Island! It is not uncommon for them to return year after year to celebrate their wedding anniversary. They return not only because of the beautiful memories created on their wedding day, but also because Mackinac Island offers an array of exciting activities.
Romance plus fun, what a great combination!

Mackinac Island wedding

Mackinac Island weddings would not be complete without a romantic carriage ride after the wedding ceremony. It is the perfect way to start your Honeymoon.

Even though you are being married on an island, you still have absolutely wonderful choices in creating a fabulous wedding.

You may choose to have your wedding ceremony in one of the four churches, on the beach, in the famous "Somewhere in Time" gazebo, at the State Park, at a small intimate Bed and Breakfast, at a larger hotel or at the Grand Hotel.

Even all three ferry’s offer weddings to be officiated on board and the Wings of Mackinac Butterfly Conservatory is a fun location for your dream destination wedding.

There are four churches on Mackinac Island:

  • Little Stone Church (Union Congregational Church)
  • 1590 Cadotte Avenue
    Mackinac Island, MI 49757
    906-847-3877

  • Historic Mission Church (Non-denominational)
  • Mackinac State Historic Parks

Summer Phone (May - Oct): 906-847-3328
    Winter Phone: 517-373-4289

  • Ste. Anne’s Catholic Church (Catholic)
  • PO Box 537
    Mackinac Island, MI 49757
    906-847-3507

  • Trinity Church Vicarage (Episcopal)
  • 472 Fort Street
    Mackinac Island, MI 49757
    906-847-3798

If you are planning not to have a church wedding there are clergy on the Island to perform your wedding ceremony. Most resorts, hotels, inns, and larger restaurants host marriage ceremonies, receptions and rehearsal dinners.

You will also be pleased with the fabulous arrangements and bouquets created by first class Mackinac Island Florists.

To make your destination wedding easier to organize, we recommend you contact a wedding coordinator to help you plan this most important day. The churches as well as most hotels have competent planners who know all the Island's best-kept secrets that will make your wedding both personal and spectacular.

A wedding photographer we recommend is Paul Retherford. His work is sensitive, imaginative and will absolutely depict your wedding day as a forever memory. He can be reached at 231-445-1793.

A friend told us about this terrific website that has the most incredible wedding favors that can be sent directly to your Mackinac Island hotel (check out their free shipping offer!). So, click here to check out Bridesmaid Gifts - Your favorite girls deserve the best gifts.

Don't Forget The Groom's Tuxedo!

Your Mackinac Island wedding would not be complete without the groom or his tuxedo! Mackinac Island's only full service shop is Mackinac Island Tuxedo.

They offer many wonderful services that include on-line measurement plus free delivery and pick-up to your hotel. They offer a range of styles including kilts! If you have any questions just email them at mackinacislandtuxedo@gmail.com. Check out their rehearsal dinner location. Their fun hay rides will make your rehearsal dinner memorable!

Groomsmen Gifts - Show them you appreciate them standing up for you.

Let Them Eat Cake

At Your Mackinac Island Wedding

At all weddings guests remember the "cake"...and Mackinac Island Weddings have wonderful choices in creating your memorable wedding cake.

All the hotel pastry chefs are top notch but two pastry chefs that we love are Julie and Annie of Annie's Cakes for they are not only beautiful but delicious, too! Their cakes are actually created, made and baked in their Mackinac Island home kitchens.

Insider Tip: For your elderly guests remember to choose lodging that is close to Main Street so they can enjoy non-wedding activities. And, don't forget to reserve horse-drawn taxis in advance for their convenience in attending your rehearsal dinner, the wedding ceremony and reception.
