A long time ago a young girl had a vision of following a career in art. Many high school students of my generation took art class as an easy credit or a class that could be dismissed.
This was not the case for me, as I loved drawing, painting and was committed to learn. However, an art career was never meant to be, for my high school art teacher failed to encourage my potential as someone who had an ounce of talent.
Many years later, just by chance I happen to be in the right place at the right time to be one of three chosen people to mentor with Richard Wolfgang. We met weekly in his gallery on Mackinac and with his never ending words of encouragement and instruction, my creative mojo resurfaced. What a productive difference a supportive teacher can make in your life, not to mention the bonding experience of the stimulating group.
Since returning to my eagerness for painting, I have taken workshops in Florida and Michigan. I’ve had the pleasure of working with several different instructors but my heart will always be grateful to Mr. Wolfgang for releasing the potential in me, as we continue to work together every summer on the island.
God owns my heart and I remain rooted in Him. So it is at this juncture in my life that I am finally able to enjoy my creative side and be surrounded by people who love painting and celebrate life. Even though I thought I knew the direction my life should take those many years ago, God had other plans and I have been truly blessed.
