The first route you can choose is the famous Tunnel of Trees Route that takes you on a windy and curvy road following the Lake Michigan shoreline. The road begins in Mackinaw City as though you heading to Wilderness State Park. Stop along the shoreline to walk the beach - just pull off the road and take a short walk over a sand dune to see a magnificent Lake Michigan beach. If you take this route leave late in the morning so you can stop at the
historic Legs Inn restaurant to have lunch
overlooking beautiful Lake Michigan. Don't take this route if you are wanting to get to Boyne Highlands FAST...for the road is curvy and being only a small two lane road - it's not a highway. Motorcyclists are numerous on this road due to its scenic beauty and winding road.
If you take this route you will find yourself at Boyne Highlands Resort located on 600 Highland Drive, Harbor Springs, Michigan. You will travel through Harbor Springs and then turn onto Highland Drive near the Harbor Springs airport. Plan on staying 3 to 4 nights here since there is such great golf, shopping and restaurants in the Harbor Springs area to enjoy.
Golf Course #4 Boyne Highlands: Boyne Highlands is a northern Michigan resort open year round. It's known as a family vacation spot. It has four golf courses with all having challenging holes but with the serenity of the rolling northern Michigan countryside. The Arthur Hills course is for more experienced golfers due to its sharply designed traps, hazards and general lay of the holes; while the Moor course is designed for players of all levels but still is fun to play with its marshes and doglegs. So choose one or both or the other two courses that are on this northern Michigan Golf resort too.
