Petoskey Mi is on a beautiful bluff overlooking Little Traverse Bay on Lake Michigan. The beauty of this small city is being on the Bay plus its location is near so many other wonderful northern Michigan vacation destinations such as
Mackinac Island,
Mackinaw City,
Cross Village,
and Bay Harbor, Michigan.
While planning your northern Michigan vacation you will have many terrific options if you choose Petoskey as your base-camp.
There is an all paved bike path that follows all along the Bay - you can go west to Charlevoix or head north and travel all the way to Harbor Springs. Be sure to take your camera for the views are breathtaking. Many people kayak along the shores of the Bay but be careful to stay near the shore for the winds of Lake Michigan can make Little Traverse Bay treacherous.

Petoskey Mi has the perfect campgound right on the Bay, Petoskey State Park.
There are terrific hotels north of town towards Boyne City and two quaint historic hotels closer to town.The Perry Hotel is right in the downtown area and just on the outskirts of town right on the Bay is the historic Bay View Inn which is a large bed and breakfast on the grounds of the historic Bay View community of vintage gingerbread Victorian homes. There are so many other fun activities too: - cross country ski trails,

- fishing,

- biking,
- hiking,
- river and sea kayaking,
- and there is a casino outside of town.
