Pine Cottage Mackinac Island and Chateau Lorraine
The Pine Cottage Mackinac Island and Chateau Lorraine are across the lane from one another. They are truly picturesque, complete with beautiful window boxes filled to the brim and overflowing with beautiful flowers.
Pine Cottage has fifteen guest rooms. You can request either a private bath or a shared bath. Most rooms do have their own sink so make sure you ask about that if you are sharing a bath. There is cable television in every guest room.
Their claim to fame is that Ty Cobb as well as Ernest Hemingway and their brides stayed at this home, making it a honeymoon destination!
You will enjoy breakfast daily, complete with homemade baked goods and fresh fruit. The tables are set with beautiful china and silver. The porch offers a relaxing place to sit and take pleasure in a cup of tea or coffee.
Chateau Lorraine has ten guest rooms. Some have private baths, but not all, so make sure you request one if it is within your budget. All rooms do have cable television and they are air-conditioned which can be very helpful on an unusually warm summer night.
If you are a movie buff, you will be thrilled to find the baby grand piano from the movie “Somewhere In Time” gracing the living area. There are authentic antiques throughout the house to underscore the romance of stepping back into time.
Breakfast is served daily featuring homemade bread and breakfast cakes, fresh fruit and other baked goods. They often serve chocolate bread pudding which is said to be a favorite.

Insider Tip: Remember that these homes were built in the 1800’s, but what they lack in modern amenities they make up for in charm. Ask questions when you make your reservation so you won’t have any surprises!
