Sheplers Ferry:

Let Sheplers Ferry be the starting point for your Mackinac Island vacation. They will take you there in style whether from Mackinaw City or St. Ignace.

Shepler's Ferry Tickets Online or at the Dock!

All online tickets are round trip tickets. They can be used any date or time during the 2011 season. Or you can purchase tickets right at the dock if it's more convenient for you.

Visit Shepler's website to read all the scheduled departures from Mackinaw City or travel across the Mighty Mac and leave from their St. Ignace dock location. The Sheplers Ferry website is very user friendly...so, give it a try by clicking on the above link.

The crew at Shepler's know that you are anxious to begin your Island vacation, they see that you arrive on some of the fastest ferries on the Great Lakes today. The entire trip only takes 16 minutes from dock to dock. The speed of these boats are only surpassed by the comfort of the trip. There is nothing quite like enjoying the view from the deck!

Getting To The Ferry

Shepler's makes getting to the ferry a breeze. Not only do they offer free shuttle service to and from your hotel or campground to the ferry dock but also offer free daily parking.

For those wishing to drive to the dock and leave their car, there are two convenient locations one in Mackinaw City and one in St. Ignace. The dock in Mackinaw City is located at the end of the Main Street at 556 E. Central Avenue. The St. Ignace dock is located at 601 State Street.

At the St. Ignace dock there is no in-door parking for cars but they do have in-door space for motorcycles.

There will be crew members helping you load and unload your luggage leaving the Mackinaw City and St. Ignace docks as well as on the Island. These hardworking college students and teenagers work long hours and handle heavy luggage and other cargo in all kinds of weather and tips are appreciated.

Other Cruises Offered by Sheplers Ferry

The Popular "Mighty Mac" Cruise

Besides their regular ferry service Shepler's offer a number of other cruises. The Mighty Mac cruise is part of their regular service to the Island with an extended 6 minute ride under the bridge and a short but interesting history lesson. This comes at no extra charge and runs daily.

The Mighty Mac cruise departs from

  • Mackinaw City at 9:00 am and 10:00 am from June 11 through September 6 and
  • St. Ignace at 10:00 am and 11:00 am from June 18th through September 6.

This is a fantastic photo opportunity to get photos from UNDER the bridge! Don't miss it!

July 4th Cruise is Fun for the Whole Family...

You can also enjoy the 2 hour July 4th cruise and enjoy the fireworks in style! It is a great trip and the fireworks seem from the ferry are terrific from this vantage point. For reservations for this cruise call 1-800-828-6157. Beverages and snacks are served. This is a popular event so get your reservations in early!

Other Cruises by Shepler's Ferry include a variety of Lighthouse Cruises, and the St. Helena Cruise for more information on these and chartered cruises please visit their website at www.sheplersferry.com For more information about Mackinac Island ferry service click here!

Insider Tip: If you are purchasing your ferry tickets at the dockside make sure that you arrive early as during the peak summer season the line can be somewhat long.

Captain Shepler began his life long career transporting guests too and from the Island in 1945. Though sadly the captain is no longer here to transport you on your short ride to the Island his family continues to give you the safe and great service that Captain Shepler required when building his Sheplers Ferry company.
