Most of those attending this event dress in vintage clothing, adding to the nostalgic atmosphere during their stay. This year there will be a tour of the actual movie locations, a celebrity panel, trivia contest, a costume promenade, cocktail parties, dinners, and much more. Various members of the cast and crew attend every year. Christopher Reeve attended in 1994 and Jane Seymour in 2002. It is said to be a memorable event, highly anticipated and greatly enjoyed. Surprise your special someone with a gift of flowers from a Mackinac Island florist! One of the Island extras, James P. Dunnigan, accidentally spoke during one of his scenes and it was decided that they would keep it in the movie. Consequently, he had to join the Screen Actors Guild, got his name in the credits and received a royalty check from time to time! It was great fun and he enjoyed every minute of the adventure!
Insider tip: If you are biking around the Island, be on the lookout for the “IS IT YOU?” plaque commemorating the site where that scene was filmed. It is located lakeside with a view of the Mackinac Bridge in the background.
