UP Pond Hockey 2010

UP Pond Hockey 2010 tournament began at noon today on Friday, February 19th with 132 teams facing off on Moran Bay in St. Ignace, Michigan. Thousands of spectators are expected to attend this weekend watching 24 rinks of exciting hockey throughout the day.
Organizers have measured the ice on Moran Bay as being around 16 inches thick closer to the shore and at least one foot where the games are being played. It was touch and go for awhile since in January the bay had no ice! The weather has cooperated and it is perfect conditions for attendees to enjoy the beautiful winter weather in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
